Following the shocking incident earlier this year where Sedgefield’s beautiful fishy character made from mosaic, The Marinara was destroyed, it has been given a second chance.
After 7 months and lots of hard work, Marinara has been restored and will be returning to town on Tuesday, 18 December 2012 at 5PM. An official ceremony will be held at the Lagoon Mouth Parking Area. The Marinara is part of a family of mosaics in Africa’s first Cittaslow town, Sedgefield.
Sedgefield adopted mosaic as an art form to not only beautify the town, but also to provide much needed jobs to people living with HIV/Aids. This has resulted in a town decorated with fabulous pieces of art that intrigues tourists taking the local mosaic route to find these treasures and have their pictures taken with them.
