American author Jeff Kinney popped out his seventh book in the Diary of a Wimpy kid series in November 2012. The book continues with insight into the life of Greg Heffley and his daily diary entries and illustrations of the scenarios in his life.
The book in a nutshell:
In the new book, Greg’s family embarrasses him as always and his younger brother Manny still gets all the attention.
The family also gets a visit from Greg’s uncle, Gary who lives with them for a while and stirs things in the wrong direction.
Greg’s luck with the school elections run out and his freckle-faced friend, Rowley wins.
The rest of the diary entries center around the Valentine’s Dance and Greg trying his best to find a partner. Sadly, this doesn’t go as planned and he eventually begs for a date. When the big night finally arrives, a bunch of seniors spoil it.
Rowley steals Greg’s date and leaves Greg with a bad case of chicken Pox.
To be completely honest, the previous books were better. This one is still entertaining and guarantees a giggle or two before bedtime, but in my opinion it is not Jeff Kinney’s best work as author.
