Baboons plundering homes in the Knysna Heights area seems to be a common and well-known problem. That’s why Warren Fleming wasn’t surprised to find that baboons were responsible for the mess in the family’s once neat home.
Warren received a phone call from a neighbour alerting him and when he returned home yesterday (Wednesday, 6 March 2013), a big mess waited for him.
He suspects that the baboon family gained access to the house through a window and through a cat flap on a second occasion (today).
The family’s kitchen looks like a war zone with food and containers scattered all over the floor. A television and a laptop were also destroyed in the family’s living room and a bed was left in a state in one of the bedrooms. Apart from this, the baboons also defecated all over.
This is certainly no surprise for Knysna residents, especially those residing in the Knysna Heights area. While some home owners resort to using paintball guns for protection, a real solution is yet to be found.
