GEORGE – Wilderness may become home to a new shopping center with corporate facilities including a conference center, by November next year. Views Boutique Hotel & Spa is currently developing this offering that will be unique to the village.
It will be known as Views Village Market and will be developed on a 7000m2 section of land that is owned by the Views Boutique Hotel & Spa and is located behind the hotel.
This popular hotel is (according to the GM) also the only beachfront hotel property between Plett and Mossel Bay.
General Manager, William Horner has advised that they are in the process of securing a food anchor tenant and the rest of the outlets will be planned around this tenant. They are planning to include between six and ten stores in addition to the anchor.
Local entrepreneurs will also be given the opportunity to exhibit their work as a local crafts market will be included among the formal retail stores. Currently they are planning on developing five dedicated couch bays for crafters to sell their good to tourists traveling en-route on the N2 highway.
Tired travelers will also be able to refresh en-route at a large restroom that will be conveniently located at the market.
Entertainment is planned for this center as well, as a central entertainment area will become a focal point to possibly provide local artists to showcase their talent to patrons enjoying their relaxing shopping experience.
Probably most exciting to this concept, will be the conference center that will also dually act as a wedding facility. This venue is set to be created in such a way that it would become possible to divide it into four sections. This will accommodate different event sizes for groups of 40-160 guests.
Horner was very excited to conclude by adding that the views from this event space promises to be “absolutely exquisite”.
